JAMES BRUNER & ELIZABETH STEVENS

James and Elizabeth are a husband-and-wife writing and producing team who were hired by Richard Zanuck (Sweeney Todd, Driving Miss Daisy, Jaws, etc.) and Lili Fini Zanuck to write and Executive Produce Pretty Boy Floyd, a feature film in development about the infamous Depression-era outlaw.

James and Elizabeth recently wrote Ice Dreams, a romantic drama, for The Hallmark Channel. Ice Dreams completed production in fall, 2008 and will air in 2009 as part of the lead-up to the Winter Olympics. They also developed and wrote the feature-length action/adventure screenplay, Kill Switch, for Larry Levinson Productions.

James and Elizabeth Co-Produced the action/thriller feature Double Tap in South Texas. Double Tap is now in post-production for a theatrical release in 2009.

They also wrote and produced the independent comedy feature Hollywood Dot Com. James directed the picture and Elizabeth played one of the lead roles.

James and Elizabeth worked with Columbia Tri-Star as writers and producers on developing the one-hour drama series Delta Force 2000.

Prior to their partnership, James wrote 13 movies that include the hit movies Missing In Action, The Delta Force, and Invasion USA, which were all Number 1 or 2 at the box office. James’s feature credits also include Braddock: Missing In Action III, POW: The Escape. He also wrote the one- hour CBS pilot script, The Delta Force.

James has a degree in Medieval History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His first writing sale was the second screenplay he wrote, the martial arts thriller, "An Eye For An Eye". The picture became a breakout hit for Chuck Norris.

Music was Elizabeth’s first love and she started singing professionally in Junior High. She has had several singles released and has also done a lot of session work, as well as recording demos for various music labels. She has also done radio jingles, singing and voiceover work on a series of children’s albums and she produced the musical component of an Arthritis Foundation benefit concert. Singing led Elizabeth naturally into acting. She has appeared in several commercials and independent films.

Hello James. I do not know if my comment about this Chinese film company which went out of business without your support would have offended you. Please do not take it serious! Take it as a joke! It is also not appropriable for me to ask about who is the Canadian woman. I humble ask for your forgiveness!

Meanwhile, I am looking for a good Chinese writer (though I can write Chinese) to translate my whole website into Chinese, in order to let more Chinese to know about Homer Lea. Do you know the Academy Awards movie The Last Emperor is censored in China, because its contents about the Cultural Revolution? It was the first time, the Chinese government allowed filming inside the Forbidden City. It is not clear whether the director had presented the full completed script.

In the future, if you need assistance for any Chinese film project, I would be glad to help you! If there is a personal matter, please write me at my website e-mail address. Sincerely, Roger

Hi James. All Chinese film companies, big or small, are eager to make a movie with American film makers. It is their goal and their prestige of film making which would reach the level of Hollywood. I can not believe that you guys proposed a project without a screenplay! That company went out of business, apparently without your support. Fortunately, you are still good friends with the Canadian woman (who is she?).

I was writing a screenplay about Dr. Sun Yat-sen first. Then, I thought Homer Lea's story is more interesting for the Chinese and American. There are several Chinese films had been made about Dr. Sun Yat-sen, as well as TV mini series in China and Taiwan. It would not be their interest to make another one. However, if the approach switched to another angle of telling how American or the British became Dr. Sun's supporter, and assisted him for his revolution, that will get their attention and support. Their films had never been able to tell that area. It reminded me that a reader wrote me about he has been endowed with a task to decipher and document any and all financial supporters of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, for historical record, and bumble with a request for my assistance. I told him I was glad to help him and I was writing a screenplay about Dr. Sun. Since then, he had never wrote me. Now I realized that he could be a screenplay writer.

The Red Dragon scheme itself is a good example for a new film about Dr. Sun Yat Sen. To my knowledge Kang is not a businessman. He is only a great classical Chinese scholar and reformer, and he did not know how to handle such huge donation money. He doesn't know speak English and only trusted his friend Yung Wing. Yung Wing, every inch is a businessman. He has ambition to destroy Kang in order to advance his position. The whole story sounds like the movie Amadeus.

You can't believe that no one (in Hollywood) has made a movie about Him, because Dr. Sun's biography is a very complex one. Perhaps the right approach will made a big difference. Let's me know if someone would like me to write the screenplay about Dr. Sun again. Best to you both! Roger.

Hi James. Thank you for your advice. I start to write a new two-hours or less screenplay. Meanwhile, I just leave Homer Lea's screenplay alone and wait. I can no longer chop Homer Lea's legacy. The Occidental College and the Stanford University both add my script to their collections and I do not feel I have wasted time.

Taiwan and China both love Dr. Sun Yat-sen. So all Chinese will consider Homer is their hero if they find out more about him (see my blog- More Than Friendship). China would love to make a film about Homer Lea and they have money for it. It is just a matter of cooperation with American film makers. That is why I wan to become a producer as well to make this film.
Please keep in touch and bring my regards to Elizabeth! Roger
