Since graduating with a B.S. in Cinema & Photography from Ithaca College, Jon Gunn has worked as a writer, director, and producer. His most recent films include Mercy Streets and My Date With Drew. Before being released in theaters, Mercy Streets received the Best Feature Film award at the WYSIWYG Festival, and the Movie Guide Award for “10 Best Films of 2000”. My Date With Drew, which had a worldwide theatrical release in the summer of 2005, won the Audience Award for Best Feature at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival, NY Gen Art Film Festival, and Vail Film Festival, and swept the 2005 Sonoma Film Festival, winning three awards, including the Jury Prize for Best Feature. My Date With Drew beat Napoleon Dynamite, Super Size Me and Garden State for Best Feature, and was listed on www.the-numbers.com as the fifth most profitable film of all times.

Gunn co-wrote Ian the Vampire and the Bernie Mac comedy The Final Four, both currently in development at Fox Searchlight, where he has a blind script deal, and he is now writing Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians for Dreamworks Animation. Jon is also in post-production on Like Dandelion Dust, a feature drama he directed for 20th Century Fox, written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Stephen J. Rivele (Ali, Nixon).

In 2002, Gunn teamed up with producer Kerry David (Executive Producer, Agent Cody Banks; Producer, upcoming Don Cheadle Miles Davis project) to create Lucky Crow Films, which has produced both film and television projects, optioned numerous literary properties, and is currently in pre-production on a number of feature projects, including Why Beulah Shot her Pistol Inside The Baptist Church, a dark comedy adapted by Gail Gilchriest (My Dog Skip) from the novel by Clayton Sullivan.

Gunn and David also co-own IndieProducer (www.indieproducer.net), a worldwide filmmaking community created to discover, educate and support new and emerging talent in film.

Jon! I'm so jealous - I got my Vail Film Festival newsletter today, and saw you guys in the Friday night slot!!! Wish I were back there myself - that is an amazing time. I'll be pulling for you to win there again. Please don't accidentally miss the awards ceremony like I did. :)

So, will you be on the festival circuit April 20-23...or any chance you'll be in L.A.??

Jon,
Thanks again for making last night's Schmoozefest at the Arclight happen. It was fascinating stuff and, hopefully, helpful toward my goal of some progress toward becoming a produced writer.
Considering your material and our brief conversation last night you have a funny bone that I can't touch (and I'm sure you're glad for that in more ways than one) so it's no mystery that you've enjoyed a real measure of success already with more to come no doubt.
If you should have any thoughts or suggestions that could help an aspiring writer I would be most grateful. I'd also be appreciative if you have a chance to check out- www.InParisDark.com. and could offer any feedback.
Best Regards,
Adam Primera
