Who is Homer Lea?

Join me in exploring this truly unsung American hero's extraordinary personal legacy, his remarkable political military achievements, and his fascinating prophecy which still has validity today. His colorful history is well worth the making of a major international motion picture. Please visit my website www.homerleasite.com.See More

Hi Roger - No, we thought it was very funny about the company going out of business...It might even be true (Just kidding.)

Our treatment is still very viable for China, but we don't have any connections over there right now. The reason we didn't want to write the script, even though the company loved our story, was because of the potential for a "Last Emperor" kind of problem - even though our story is a historical fantasy adventure. We were concerned that without first getting input from the company, we might inadvertently include some culturally insensitive material and blow the deal...

That's a great idea to get a Chinese writer to translate your site into Chinese!

We have wanted to do some movies in China for some time. We had some interaction a couple of years ago with Shanghai Film Group. They were interested in one of our projects, but it was only a treatment and they needed a screenplay to move forward.

The company that made the introductions has gone out of business, but we have remained good friends with the Canadian woman who went to Shanghai to actually meet with the head of the studio.

It sounds like you are on the right path. If you can get a film made about Dr. Sun-Yat Sen first (we can't believe that no one has made a movie about him!!!), you can follow up with a movie about Homer.

Hi Roger:

I just saw Peter Spencer's post about your script. Elizabeth and I think that Peter has a valid point. A shorter screenplay - two hours max - would probably be a good idea - unless you want to try to approach HBO to do the project as a mini-series. Best, Jim (Elizabeth sends her regards as well.)

What does the Mainland Chinese government think about Homer? Is he considered a hero? If he isn't popular with them, could the film be made in Taiwan?

Hi Roger, unfortunately there are certain realities out there. Perhaps you could write a shorter, spec script to showcase your talents, or perhaps create a shorter version of your script, perhaps episode one of a mini-series. You have to find ways to get your voice to the people who can help you. Keep in touch. There are many inspiring stories on IP. Best, Peter

Hi Roger, no, I had never heard of Lea, but what an amazing story! Three hours biography sounds like a difficult project to get off the ground - what progress have you made so far?
