Tomas Krnac has MA in Philosophy and Social Sciences followed by graduating with MA in Film Directing in Bratislava, Slovakia and Hamburg, Germany. His teachers include Nikita Mikhalkov, Michael Ballhaus, Alexander Mitta, Hark Bohm, Slawomir Idziak.
A former professional musician (drums and percussion), graduate of EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) in 2002, he speaks English, German, Russian, Czech and Slovak languages.
He has written and/or directed several short films and documentaries, his first feature film “Bascovansky & Son-in-Law” was voted as Slovak audience's most popular TV-feature in 1994. He has directed also numerous commercial TV spots and written two feature film screenplays.
All his works were presented at international film festivals (Oberhausen, Prague, Cottbus, Hamburg, Selb, Freiburg, Bratislava etc.) and in TV. His short film “Higher Power” won Prize for the Best Screenplay at Ludwigsburg Film Festival and was in competition for the Best German Film at Oberhausen Film Festival.
