KOSMOPOLIS Literature Fest/ Barcelona screens The Pit & Pendulum!

This coming weekend, The Pit and the Pendulum animated film make another appearance in Spain at the KOSMOPOLIS International Literature Festival!
That's right, we're expanding out horizons, courtesy of the programming folks at KOSMOPOLIS 08- and we're loving it. Here's some details on the festival:

"Kosmopolis International Literature Fest is a biennial literary event, born within the new century and held at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona.
Kosmopolis establishes itself as the main expanded literature event. Five days in which to continue exploring new themes, genres and formats that reflect the festival's innovative spirit through its core structural sections: the spoken word, the printed word and the electronic word. It is a feast-laboratory where Literature is the main focus of attention.
Five days to celebrate a universalistic discourse, a feast to emancipate readers, to stimulate the canon’s mutation, to shake genres, to sail in languages and to revise myths, traditions and identities. In a context where the oral word, the printed word and the electronic word reflect the tremors of a globalized world, a prospect of mutating genres, formats and storage systems is emerging.

Kosmopolis condenses and amplifies this process, placing literature in the centre of the scene and interacting with the Arts and Sciences.

Kosmopolis is a date with art and freedom inspired in an old consciousness: we are citizens of the cosmos, citizens of the universe. The 2008 festival is devoted to delivering a synthesised report on the most pressing global problems and the way they are reflected in current changes that are affecting attitudes towards literary activity. The emphasis this year is on commitment and activism, not forgetting the weapons that art and culture themselves can also bring to bear."

Now isn't that some heady stuff? We're proud to have The Pit and the Pendulum animated film screening alongside some very cool short and feature films on the program, as well as some of the most prominent speakers, poets, writers, musicians and spoken -word artists in Europe and beyond. How cool is that?
